Arrival in Paro
Arrival at Paro International Airport and transfer to the hotel, followed by a gentle orientation walk through Paro town's shops, cafés and handicraft stalls, with the rest of the evening free to relax or stroll the riverside. Overnight: Paro.

Paro
Visit the National Museum (Ta Dzong), housed in a historic watchtower, then Rinpung Dzong, Paro's 'Fortress of the Heap of Jewels', with its painted wooden galleries. Round out the day with a hands-on archery session, trying Bhutan's national sport. Overnight: Paro.

Paro → Thimphu
Drive to Thimphu (about 1–1.5 hours) to visit the School of Traditional Arts (Zorig Chusum), meet a local contemporary artist in their studio, and browse the Centenary Farmers' Market. End the day at Tashichho Dzong for the sunset unfolding of the National Flag ceremony. Overnight: Thimphu.

Thimphu → Punakha
Scenic drive via Dochu La (3,100 m), about 2.5–3 hours, pausing at the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the 15th-century Temple of Fertility, then enjoy a farm-to-table lunch at a countryside farmhouse or eco-café. Overnight: Punakha.

Punakha → Gangtey
Scenic drive of about 2.5–3.5 hours via Wangdue and Lawa La Pass (~3,360 m) into the glacial bowl of Phobjikha, to explore the 17th-century Gangtey Monastery, followed by a gentle walk on the Gangtey Nature Trail (black-necked cranes visible October–February). Overnight: Gangtey.

Gangtey → Paro
Early transfer back to Paro via Wangdue and Dochu La (about 5.5–6.5 hours), then after lunch set out for the Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) trailhead for the full 4–6 hour round-trip hike to the cliffside monastery at about 3,120 m. Overnight: Paro.
