Paro → Thimphu

Meet your guide in Paro and transfer to Thimphu, stopping en route at Tamchog Lhakhang, the 14th-century temple famed for its historic iron bridge, with a butter lamp offering for a peaceful start to the journey. Drive time is about 1–1.5 hours. Overnight: Thimphu.

Thimphu

Start at Buddha Dordenma, the towering golden statue overlooking Thimphu valley, then join a traditional paper-making workshop, visit the Simply Bhutan living museum, and browse the Centenary Farmers' Market. Close the day at Tashichho Dzong for the sunset unfolding of the National Flag ceremony. Overnight: Thimphu.

Thimphu → Punakha

Scenic drive via Dochu La Pass (3,100 m), about 2.5–3 hours, pausing to admire the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Explore Punakha Dzong, the 'Palace of Great Happiness', then unwind with a sunset riverside picnic in the valley. Overnight: Punakha.

Punakha → Paro

Morning drive back to Paro via Dochula Pass (about 3.5–4.5 hours), then in the afternoon hike partway up to the classic Taktsang Monastery viewpoint, with the option to continue to the top. Close the day with a rejuvenating traditional hot-stone bath. Overnight: Paro.
